Champions League: Week 4

This week’s Champions League football had very decisive games for many teams that were fighting to keep themselves in the competition. As in past competitions, only 2 teams from every group make it through the best of 16. Teams finishing 3rd are sent to the Europa League, while last-place finishers have to say goodbye to the most prestigious football contest.

Tuesday’s blockbuster game was between FC Chelsea against AC Milan. The game ended with Chelsea winning comfortably with 2 to 0, thanks to goals from Jorginho (penalty) and P. Aubameyang. Maybe the biggest surprise was Juventus’ 2-0 defeat against Israeli side Maccabi Haifa. This ended the miserable CL season of the team from Turin, as they have no chance of getting to the best 16.

Maybe the most anticipated game on Wednesday was FC Barcelona’s encounter against Inter Milan. This game came with many goals and much drama from both sides, as it finished 3-3 with 2 goals scored after the 88th minute. Unfortunately for Barça, this is not enough to climb up to 2nd or 3rd place as things stand. The Bluagrana need a miracle to be able to get through.
